Lucas Leiva could be set to join Turkish champions Besiktas in the summer, according to Turkish outlet Fotomac.

The report claims Lucas is being eyed as competition for 34-year-old midfielder Atiba Hutchinson, who is unable to see out an entire season due to his age.

It is believed that the Turkish giants wanted to sign Lucas before the start of the season, but now stand a better chance of completing a deal with the 22-time Brazil international set to leave this summer.

Lucas, 30, has just over a month left on his current Anfield deal and has already confirmed that he has played his last Liverpool match after 10 years of service with the Merseyside giants.

Italian powerhouses Inter Milan could also be interested in the holding midfielder, after previously making an offer for the ex-Gremio ace.

The Express claim Lucas will demand any interested parties offer a huge pay cheque worth £81,000 a week, totalling at £4.2million a year.

Lucas has been turned into a central defender this season alongside his duties as a midfield anchor, making 31 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side as the Reds finished fourth in the Premier League.

Since moving to Liverpool back in 2007, Lucas has gone on to play in a huge 346 league and cup outings for the Reds, scoring just seven goals and holding aloft the 2012 League Cup.

Besiktas confirmed their second successive league title with a 4-0 win away at Gazientepspor on Sunday evening, thanks to goals from Ryan Babel, Oguzhan Ozyakup and a brace from Anderson Talisca.
