Ronaldo Vieira is elated on Twitter after putting pen to paper on a new four-year deal with Leeds.

The Championship club revealed on their official website that they had struck a deal with the 18-year-old midfielder, which will see him remain with the club until the summer of 2021.

Vieira has shone in Garry Monk’s side this season after breaking into the side on a regular basis, following his debut for the club in the last game of the Yorkshire giants’ 2015-16 campaign.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, Vieira revealed he was “delighted to extend his stay” and told the Elland Road faithful that he would “see you next year”.

Vieira starred for the Whites in his 38 league and cup appearances this season, fending off competition from the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Eunan O’Kane to star regularly alongside captain Liam Bridcutt.

Leeds’ number 25 provided two sublime highlights throughout the campaign, first scoring the winner in a penalty shootout against Norwich in the EFL Cup as well as scoring a long-range effort in a 3-2 triumph against the Canaries in the league.

His efforts have been noticed by England’s Under-20 squad, which has seen him earn a call-up to the squad to take part in the Toulon Tournament, which the Three Lions won last summer.

The emerging star will now remain at Elland Road for the foreseeable future, seeing off what could have been summer interest in the Bissau-born ace.

Sports site HITC claimed earlier in the season that Bundesliga side RB Leipzig were keen on Vieira, but it now seems that he will be available for selection by former Swansea boss Monk next season.
