Andrea Radrizzani has revealed that he joined Leeds to “make history” following his recent takeover of the club.

The 42-year-old completed his full takeover at Elland Road on Tuesday after purchasing the 50 per cent of the club from Massimo Cellino, which accompanied the other 50 percent he initially invested in during January.

The Italian businessman became the chairman of the Yorkshire giants and will now be striving to get the club back in the Premier League.

Radrizzani has issued a strong message to BBC journalist Adam Pope stating his clear intentions to achieve success on the pitch, while disregarding the need for huge financial reward.

“I am here to make history & not money,” Radrizzani said, as quoted by Pope’s official Twitter account.

The new full owner firstly needs to address the situation of the club’s new manager for next season as Garry Monk’s initial 12-month deal expires this summer.

Sky Sports report that Leeds are planning to exercise an option to extend Monk’s deal by a further year to help the club back in the top flight.

The Whites finished seventh in the Championship last table and Monk’s squad just dropped out of the play-offs in the back-end of the season.

However, they restored belief around Elland Road of a long-awaited promotion and season tickets for next season have already surpassed the 15,000 mark.

Radrizzani has stated his intention to make some history at the club and a return to the top flight would be a great start, with a 13-year absence from the Premier League tarnishing their great reputation.
