‘He loves us’ – Levy on Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur owner Daniel Levy has claimed Mauricio Pochettino is not going anywhere this summer.

The Argentine boss has earned himself many plaudits since his move to White Hart Lane, and the 2016/17 campaign was his most successful season yet.

He guided Spurs to a second-place finish in the Premier League, their highest finish in the league, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

His success has meant he has been linked with moves to the likes of Inter Milan, but Levy does not seem too worried about Pochettino’s future.

Speaking at a press conference, as quoted by the London Evening Standard, Levy said: “Mauricio [Pochettino] is sitting right in front of us here. I’m sure he’s not going anywhere. He loves us.”

Levy was speaking in Hong Kong as he announced Spurs’ official partnership with insurance firm AIA has been extended until 2022.

Pochettino was in attendance at the press conference as he prepares his side for a post-season friendly with Kitchee SC in the National Stadium on Friday.

Before making the switch to North London, the Argentine managed Southampton for one full season, after replacing Nigel Adkins as boss in January 2013.

He led the Saints to an eighth-placed finish in the 2013/14 season, which impressed Levy enough to grant him a five-year deal at Tottenham in May 2014.

Prior to becoming a manager, Pochettino enjoyed a long career as a player at the likes of Espanyol, Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux.
