Everton make approach for Onyekuru

Everton have expressed an interest in signing in-demand KAS Eupen forward Henry Onyekuru, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Merseysiders have made an enquiry for the Nigerian, 19, after his stunning form in the Belgium league, particularly in the final months of this season.

It is said that Onyekuru is on £32,000-a-week at KAS Eupen and has a £6.8million release clause in his contract.

Interest in the teenager has intensified on the back on his performances this season from a wide attacking role.

Sky Sports reported this week that Arsenal are in talks to sign Onyekuru, while the Mail report that Belgian big-hitting duo Club Brugge and Anderlecht have made offers for the player. Borussia Monchengladbach, Southampton, West Brom and Bournemouth have joined Everton in making enquiries.

Onyekuru has scored a remarkable 24 goals and weighed in with nine assists from 41 appearances in all competitions for top-flight outfit KAS Eupen.

The versatile attacker, who usually plays on the left wing, ended the season in especially sensational form, scoring 10 goals in 10 play-off matches, including six from the last four games of the season.

Onyekuru has previously revealed that he has an agreement with Eupen that he will leave them in the summer transfer window after attracting the attention from some of the Premier League’s top sides.

The teenager has scored 30 goals and provided 11 assists in 60 appearances across all competitions since joining Eupen in 2015 from the Aspire Academy .
