La Liga club Deportivo La Coruña have first option to buy Arsenal striker Lucas Perez due to a “clause in his contract”, according to his agent.

Rodrigo Fernández Lovelle was speaking about the 28-year-old’s current situation in North London and he confirmed that the Spanish side have priority over any other club to re-sign the forward in the summer.

“The first option would always be Deportivo, they would be the first club we would talk to,” he said as quoted in Marca. “We have to thank Deportivo for dreaming of having Lucas. Lucas is also thinking and dreaming of Deportivo because he’s a heartfelt sportsman forever.”

Perez joined the North London side at the beginning of the 2016-17 season but he has spent the majority of the campaign watching on from the sidelines due to injury and being out of favour with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The Spaniard only made two starts in the Premier League compared to the 35 La Liga starts he made with Deportivo last season.

When he has been given opportunities on the pitch, Perez has contributed well as he scored eight goals in all competitions, including a Champions League hat-trick against Basel in December.

The last time Perez featured in a game for the North London club came all the way back in March when Arsenal beat non-league Lincoln City 5-0 in the FA Cup 6th round.

The Spanish forward is also unlikely to feature in this weekend’s FA Cup final against Premier League champions Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.
