Aston Villa are one of the sides to have submitted a bid for Manchester City midfielder Aaron Mooy, according to a report.

Australian television network SBS claim on their website that the Midlands giants are one of several clubs to make offers for the 26-year-old, who has impressed during a loan spell at Huddersfield this season.

It is understood that Villa, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Derby have submitted bids for the Australia international.

The report details that Man City want at least £10million for the central midfielder despite the face he is yet to make a senior appearance at the Etihad Stadium.

Mooy is currently focused on trying to help his current side Huddersfield achieve promotion to the Premier League and completed 90 minutes in their play-off semi-final first leg against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Terries drew 0-0 in their home fixture and will hope to progress in the away meeting to face Reading in the final at Wembley.

Mooy has been integral to Huddersfield’s success all season and been an ever-present in David Wagner’s starting line-up.

The box-to-box midfielder has showcased his qualities all year and was included in the EFL Championship team of the year.

He has made 49 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and supplying 10 assists.

Mooy’s ability to control matches is another major feature of his game and it appears that Villa are keen to exploit that next season after submitting a formal bid.

Steve Bruce will be hoping his side can compete at the top-end of the table for promotion next year after finishing 13th this season.
