Ian Wright has revealed that Arsenal defender Rob Holding is now his second favourite player behind club legend Dennis Bergkamp.

Former Premier League striker Wright was still “buzzing” from Holding’s display against Chelsea at the weekend which saw Arsene Wenger’s side lift the FA Cup.

The 21-year-old, who joined the club last summer from relegated Bolton, was selected to start in a back three alongside Per Mertesacker and Nacho Monreal.

Holding impressed supporters with his strong display throughout the match as the Gunners clinched a 2-1 win against the English champions.

TV pundit Wright was pleased with what he has seen from Holding during his time at the club but Bergkamp was still his all-time favourite.

“Still buzzing,” said Wright on his personal Twitter account. “Rob Holding now my second favourite Arenal player. Bergkamp obviously my number one.”

Former Holland international Bergkamp is regarded as one of the most gifted players to have played the game, known for his great technical ability on the ball.

During his time in England, he won three Premier League titles under Wenger and four FA Cup trophies during 315 games for the north London club.

Centre-back Holding will go a long way to emulate the Dutchman’s great career, but he has already started on a high note by winning the FA Cup.

Despite the Cup triumph, Arsenal ended a poor campaign, finishing outside of the top four, which means they will be playing Europa League football next term.
