Monk will move for Leeds loan star Bartley

Garry Monk will try to sign Swansea defender Kyle Bartley if he stays on as Leeds manager next season, according to a report.

Sky Sports claim that Monk is “likely” to pursue a permanent move for the 25-year-old in the summer, who has enjoyed a successful season-long loan spell at Elland Road this year.

It is understood that the centre-back will be a Whites priority if the club decide to extend the contract of their current boss.

Leeds manager Monk is currently under negotiations about extending his deal with the Yorkshire club, which is due to expire in the summer.

The Sun claim that co-owner Andrea Radrizzani is set to offer the 38-year-old a mega five-year deal and trust him to get the club back in the Premier League.

Monk managed to take Leeds to seventh in the Championship table this season and it’s believed he will receive the full backing to launch a promotion assault in the next campaign.

The former Swansea boss was working on a limited budget last summer and his standout buy was arguably the loan deal for Bartley.

The pair previously worked together at the Liberty Stadium and Bartley moved to Leeds to experience regular first team football.

He struck up a formidable partnership alongside teammate Pontus Jansson and was integral to the club’s strong form.

Bartley made 50 appearances across all competitions in a busy campaign and managed to chip in with an impressive tally of six goals.
