Manchester United are finally closing in on a deal to sign Victor Lindelof.
According to a report on talkSPORT A £40m fee has been agreed with Benfica to sign the defender in the summer following a frustrating period trying to complete the deal in January.
Barcelona and Juventus have since been linked with Lindelof but United have maintained the dialogue and scouted the Swede on a weekly basis.
United have been linked with a number of central defenders but early in the season Jose Mourinho identified the Benfica man as his first choice.
Earlier this year Benfica bought out the sell on clause that Vasteras had on the transfer that was completed in 2012 which clears one of the major obstacles for a summer sale which is expected to be in the region of £40m.
Mourinho believes that at the age of 22 Lindelof can anchor his defence for the next five seasons.
