Middlesbrough chief scout Victor Orta is on a shortlist compiled by Leeds as they search for a new technical director, according to a report.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that co-owner Andrea Radrizzani will make several changes once his expected full takeover at Elland Road is complete and adding a technical director to oversee operations is one of them.

Boro man Orta is expected to leave the Riverside in the summer following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, with chairman Steve Gibson frustrated with their recruitment.

However, Orta is respected in Europe after holding roles at Sevilla, Elche and Zenit St Petersburg in the past.

Leeds are eyeing a move for the scout of their new Championship rivals and they are two of the teams that will be expected to compete for promotion next season.

It is understood that West Ham’s managing director Angus Kinnear is expected to move to Elland Road “in the coming days” and replace Ben Mansford, while Ivan Bravo has already been named the club’s new director.

The report details that Radrizzani’s major summer shake-up is set to continue once he buys the 50 per cent stake from Massimo Cellino and a new contract for manager Garry Monk should also follow.

Leeds fans are desperate for Monk to be handed a new deal after their seventh-placed finish last season and feel he can be the man to guide them back to the Premier League.

Orta would work closely alongside Monk if he was to land the new technical director role and the pair would be looking to bring in some successful transfers.
