Leeds have started disciplinary proceedings against Charlie Taylor, according to a reliable journalist.

BBC correspondent Adam Pope explained on his personal Twitter account that the Whites have made a firm decision and decided to take action against the 23-year-old first teamer.

Taylor will now wait to find out if he faces punishment for refusing to play on the final game of the season against Wigan.

Taylor opted not to travel with the squad in Leeds’ final Championship match of the campaign at the weekend as they drew 1-1 away at Wigan.

The Whites manager Garry Monk claimed after the game that the youngster had been “poorly advised” and the fans expressed their anger towards their academy graduate.

The left-back has been pushing for a move away from Elland Road and may now get his wish as his contract expires in June.

The Express and Star claim that he is closing in on a move to Premier League club West Brom as negotiations near completion.

It is understood that the player’s representatives and the Baggies are settling terms before a pre-contract agreement is signed, in which a compensation fee of between £4million and £7million is paid.

Taylor had been a popular hit with the club’s supporters after emerging from their academy, but now appears to be leaving on a sour note.

He had racked up 104 senior appearances for the Championship side and may now be about to get his first taste of the Premier League.

The defender has proven himself to be well equipped in the Championship during recent seasons, but will experience a significant step up if he links up with Tony Pulis at West Brom.
