Following the shock departure of Garry Monk, there is now an air of uncertainty at Elland Road with fans hoping the next manager in the hot seat can build on his predecessor’s success.

In his only season in charge of the Yorkshire club, Monk and his team narrowly missed out on a top-six finish but supporters saw the light at the end of the tunnel in what was a successful campaign.

There were a number of players who stood out for Monk throughout the season, from striker Chris Wood to centre-back Kyle Bartley.

Bartley was on a season-long loan from Premier League side Swansea and his current deal with the club will expire at the end of this month.

Leeds need to replace Bartley with an experienced campaigner who has played top-flight football and understands how to earn promotion.

Hull City defender Curtis Davies, who was recently relegated with the Tigers from the Premier League, fits that bill perfectly and would instantly improve the team.

The 32-year-old has played for the likes of Aston Villa and West Brom in the top-flight, including earning promotion via the play-offs last season with his current team.

With Bartley set to leave the club in a matter of days, Davies’ ability to command his own box, read the game well and bring experience to the backline would mean that their loan star would not be a big miss for the forthcoming season.

Davies can fill his role to perfection.
