Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne has been ruled out of England’s upcoming matches against Scotland and France due to an injury.

The BBC sport website reportedĀ the 26-year-old’s injury on their official Twitter account on Tuesday morning.

Gareth Southgate’s England side face Scotland in a crucial World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on June 10.

England will then travel to Paris to meet France on June 13 at the Stade de France in a friendly match.

Since breaking onto the Premier League scene with Southampton during the 2012-13 campaign, Clyne has managed to perform on a consistent basis and his form earned him his first senior England international appearance in 2014 against Slovenia.

The full-back was named in the England squad for the 2016 European Championships in France but he only featured in the 0-0 draw against Slovakia in the group stages as Tottenham’s Kyle Walker was the preferred choice at right-back.

Clyne’s last appearance for his country came in the 2-2 draw against Spain at Wembley Stadium in November 2016, taking his total number of games played for England to 14.

The full-back has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Liverpool in his second full season at the Merseyside club.

Clyne made 37 Premier League starts this season, providing two assists andĀ helping his side keep 12 clean sheets.
