Crystal Palace have entered the race for Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale, according to a report.

The Daily Mirror claim that Palace have joined Leeds in the hunt for the 31-year-old shot stopper, who starred in Brighton’s promotion from the Championship this season.

It is understood that Stockdale is out of contract this summer and will be available for a free transfer.

The report details that the Seagulls are yet to agree a new deal with the experienced goalkeeper and Palace have been watching developments closely, while Watford have also asked to be kept informed.

The Daily Mirror reported last month that Leeds were keen on a move for Brighton’s number one goalkeeper alongside Middlesbrough, while Chelsea could reignite their interest after a proposed move in January.

The Whites currently have Rob Green as their first-choice goalkeeper at Elland Road and the former England international was a major plus point as the club finished seventh in the Championship.

Meanwhile, Brighton managed to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League and Stockdale played a major role.

He made 45 appearances in the Championship during the campaign and kept an impressive 20 clean sheets in return.

The goalkeeper is proven in England’s second-flight and has made 196 league appearances during spells with Brighton, Plymouth, Hull and Ipswich.

However, he has just 39 Premier League appearances under his belt from his time with Fulham and could be playing once again in the Championship next season.
