Sporting Lisbon attacker Hadi Sacko has confirmed that he is set to stay at Leeds United this summer.

The 23-year-old revealed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday evening that he was ‘very excited’ to be staying at the club, following a successful loan spell at Elland Road last term.

He said: “Looks like we’re gonna have some more moments together guys. Very excited to stay there and help as much as I can.”

Sacko contributed two goals and four assists from 42 appearances in all competitions for Leeds during the 2016-17 season, but with his loan deal due to expire, it looks like the Championship club have moved quickly to extend his stay.

Portuguese news outlet the Record had reported on Sunday that Leeds had exercised their option to sign Sacko on a permanent basis, triggering a clause worth £1.5million in his contract.

However, Sacko’s latest Twitter message to Leeds fans suggests that a deal may have reached its final stages, and the club could be set to confirm the transfer imminently.

The Championship club have moved to kick-off their summer transfer business despite the shock departure of manager Garry Monk last week.

Monk had been in talks over a new deal at the Yorkshire-based side, but talks broke down in emphatic fashion after it was revealed that the 38-year-old chief had tendered his resignation.

Leeds are still yet to appoint a successor, but the absence of a manager at Elland Road appears to have had little impact on Sacko’s impending transfer.
