Ex-defender Ian Harte has sent a passionate message of support to Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani following his takeover of the club.

The 39-year-old took to his personal Twitter account just hours after the takeover was completed on Tuesday to congratulate Radrizzani on his successful approach.

He also insisted that he will send Leeds ‘back to where they belong’ in the Premier League, having not appeared in the top flight since the 2003-04 season.

He said: “Congratulations @andreradri. I know you will get @LUFC back to where they belong premiership. I will see you soon.”

Leeds had announced on their official club website on Tuesday that the Italian businessman had completed a 100 per cent takeover of the club.

Radrizzani had initially arrived at the Yorkshire-based outfit in January, but had only secured a 50 per cent stake in the ownership of the club.

But his successful purchase of the remaining 50 per cent sees the turbulent reign of Massimo Cellino come to an end, and Radrizzani take full control.

Harte, who began his professional career at Elland Road, firmly believes the Italian businessman’s arrival at the club can bring success back to Leeds United.

Fans have already taken to Twitter to deliver their own verdicts on the takeover, and they were unanimously in favour of the deal.

However, the next step for Leeds is for the club to finally put an end to the speculation regarding the future of manager Garry Monk, and offer him an extended deal.

Sky Sports have though, reported that Leeds are set to exercise an option to extend his current deal by a further 12 months.
