Aston Villa are eyeing a move for Hull defender Ahmed Elmohamady, according to a report.

The Daily Star claim that the Midlands giants could make a summer swoop for the 29-year-old, whose future with the Tigers remains unclear following their relegation from the Premier League.

The report details that Bruce is plotting a move for Elmohamady and the pair have a strong connection as he has signed the full-back on two separate occasions during his career.

The right-back has been unable to prevent Hulls’ relegation from the top flight and is heading to the Championship, but could be offered the chance to link up again with Bruce.

He has made 36 appearances across all competitions and can also be deployed as right winger, with the offensive side of his game strong.

Elmohamady has racked up 164 appearances in the Premier League and would also give Villa vital experience from the Championship.

The Egypt international experienced promotion from England’s second division with Hull and Bruce may be looking for reinforcements as he looks to get his side out of the Championship next year.

Villa were unable to get near the promotion picture this season following their own relegation and finished 13th.

They invested heavily in both transfer windows and most people feel they have a squad strong enough to obtain promotion, while they have an expert in Bruce to achieve their goal.
