Spurs are set to offer Dele Alli another new contract to keep him away from Real Madrid.

According to a report in The Mirror the midfielder will be offered a new contract worth a total of £40m if he agrees to stay with Spurs until 2023.

Alli has already signed two contracts since leaving MK Dons in a £5m deal but his progress means that Spurs must keep upping his deal to fend off the admirers.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris St Germain have all been linked with the midfielder while any of the top six clubs in England would jump at the chance of taking a key player from a rival.

Retaining Alli for the medium term is a big boost for Spurs and a declaration of intent that they’ll no longer be looked in as a feeder club.

With Champions League football almost secured for next season Spurs can offer the 21-year-old the footballing challenge he requires alongside the salary he can get elsewhere.
