Liverpool are back in the race for Virgil van Dijk.
According to a report in The Times, Jurgen Klopp is preparing a £50m bid for the Southampton defender.
Manchester City and Chelsea have been strongly linked with van Dijk but it seems that Liverpool are ready to pitch in a bid for the Dutchman who was signed from Celtic for £13m in 2015.
Van Dijk is expected to be the subject of a number of bids at the end of the season and likely to go for more than £50m despite the pleas of Southampton that he’s not for sale.
Central defence has been a long running problem position with Mamadou Sakho on his way out after impressing on loan at Crystal Palace.
Liverpool are hoping to get £20m plus for Sakho which will offset the cost of signing van Dijk who is rated as the best option to bring stability and leadership to Klopp’s defence.
