Arsenal have joined the race for Virgil van Dijk.
According to a report in The Mirror Arsene Wenger wants to bring in the Southampton defender to anchor a new look back three.
Van Dijk is currently out of action with an ankle injury but is expected to be the subject of several big money bids in the summer.
Manchester City and Chelsea have both been linked with £50m summer bids with Paris St Germain and Inter Milan also watching the Dutchman.
Wenger is expected to be given big money in the summer to push Arsenal back into contention for honours with van Dijk the player that could lead the switch from a back four to a more flexible three man defence.
Southampton would prefer to hold on to the defender but with clubs offering them £50m and a massive hike in wages for the player it’s unlikely that van Dijk will start next season at St Mary’s.
