Luke Shaw is hoping that Spurs can rescue him from his Old Trafford misery.

According to a report in The Sun the defender in pinning his hopes on a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino who gave him his big break at Southampton.

That led to a £28m move to Manchester United after the 2014 World Cup but since Jose Mourinho took over from Louis van Gaal the defender’s career has gone downhill.

Spurs are well placed at left-back but that could change if Spurs come in with a £50m bid for Danny Rose.

Picking up Shaw for half that price could be tempting for Daniel Levy provided Pochettino is confident enough to revive the 21-year-old.

Shaw’s reputation has taken a hammering this season but linking up again with his former Southampton boss could be the break that his career needs leaving all parties happy with United losing a problem while Spurs pocket a £25m profit and a younger replacement for Rose.
