Manchester City step up Rodriguez interest

|

Manchester City have emerged as favourites to sign James Rodriguez.

According to a report in The Sun, the Real Madrid striker looks set for the Etihad in a £50m summer deal despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Rodriguez joined Real in 2014 following an impressive World Cup series for Columbia but has failed to live up to expectations with the Spanish side.

With just three goals this season Real are looking to bring in a new striker with Rodriguez making way for fresh blood.

Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the former Monaco and Porto striker and is planning a major shake up during the close season.

Sergio Aguero could be on his way out of City with the January arrival of Gabriel Jesus a clear sign that Guardiola is planning to reshape City’s attacking options.

Before Christmas Rodriguez was pictured at the British Embassy in Bogota adding to rumours that his next move would be to the Premier League.
