Liverpool and Spurs target Max Meyer isn’t involved in talks to extend his contract with Schalke 04.

According to a report on talkSPORT, Schalke are in no rush to resign the midfielder whose contract expires net summer.

At the age of 21 Schalke would be able to claim a cross-border compensation fee for the midfielder is he decides to move to England which is likely to force a decision this summer with a fee in the region of £12m expected.

Jurgen Klopp has watched Meyer’s development from an early stage and is convinced that he could succeed in England.

With limited funds the onus is on Klopp to identify and develop younger emerging players rather than to compete for the biggest names.

Spurs have got similar aims but can highlight to Meyer the way that Dele Alli have came through the ranks to be key parts of Mauricio Pochettino’s side while in their early twenties.
