Chelsea have added Cedric Soares to their Southampton shopping list.
According to a report in The Standard the right-back has joined Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Bertrand on a list of defenders that Antonio Conte wants to bring to Stamford Bridge.
Soares was part of Portugal’s Euro 16 winning side and is in his second season at St Mary’s following a £5m move from Acad Coimba.
Southampton are hoping to lose their tag of being a selling club but will find it difficult to hold on to all three players when the prospect of a significant wage rise and Champions League football is on offer in London.
Barcelona have been linked with Soares who is under contract until 2020 but the chance of a move to Chelsea is bound to appeal.
Right-back or right wing-back is a position that Conte wants to have options on with the athletic Soares likely to cost in the region of £25m if the Chelsea boss wants to put in a bid.
