Barcelona are stepping up their interest in signing Hector Bellerin.

According to a report in The Sun, Barca chief Robert Fernandez name checked the Arsenal defender when he was asked about the club signing a new right-back.

Bellerin wouldn’t exactly be a new left back having left the Barca academy in 2011 and like Cesc Fabregas it will take a massive fee to bring the defender ‘home’.

Arsenal got Bellerin committed to a new long term before Christmas but that hasn’t prevented the 22-year-old from being linked with Barca’s problem position.

With Champions League football far from guaranteed for next season Barca are hoping to cash in on uncertainty at the Emirates to land a long term signing target.

Bellerin, who has also been linked with Manchester City, has never indicated that he is unhappy with life in London but with Arsenal slipping out of the chase for honours a return to Barcelona must be increasingly tempting.
