Everton are stepping up their interest in Harry Maguire.

According to a report in the Liverpool Echo, Ronald Koeman is switching his focus towards other targets over fears that Michael Keane is destined to return to Manchester United.

The Burnley defender was a transfer target for Everton during the January window but since then has played his way into the England squad and attracted the attention of Jose Mourinho.

United have a 25% sell on clause in Keane’s contract after leaving Old Trafford three years ago when Louis van Gaal decided to accept an offer of £3m for the defender.

With Keane also linked with a move to Spurs, Koeman wants to make sure that he can bring in Maguire who has played a key role in Hull’s battle against relegation.

West Ham and Southampton have been linked to Maguire but Koeman is confident that Everton can come up with a better offer in terms of cash and also ambitions.
