West Brom will hand a one week trial to Zac Jones.
According to a report in the Birmingham Mail the teenage New Zealander has been recommended to Jonathan Gould who began his coaching career in that part of the world.
Jones has already been watched by West Brom’s scouting team when he spent a week with Belgian side KV Mechelen.
Travelling across the world is a big commitment but the 16-year-old is single minded about his desire to turn pro in Europe.
West Brom are determined to leave no stone, or email request, unturned as they look to discover and develop the next generation of stars.
Rather than throwing millions around in the transfer market the club are diverting money towards a worldwide scouting programme to uncover prospects away from the main markets.
Jones has extensive international experience but would be prepared to put that on hold if he can earn a pro contract in England or elsewhere in Europe.
