Arsene Wenger has revealed that he made an enquiry about Kylian Mbappe more than a year ago.
According to a report in The Mirror the under fire Arsenal boss raised the matter during Thursday’s media conference for the FA Cup tie with Lincoln.
Mbappe has been in stunning form for the French side and has been linked with some of the biggest name on the continent.
Wenger earned his reputation as a shrewd judge of talent capable of spotting and developing the best young players in the game and making them stars at Arsenal.
Those memories are starting to wear thin with supporters concerned that their boss is living off past glories.
Since the start of February Mbappe has scored seven times including a goal away to Manchester City in the Champions League.
The 18-year-old will be closely watched in next week’s return leg with Monaco now acknowledged as best club in France for producing stars.
