Wayne Rooney has indicated that he is keen on an emotional return to Everton.

According to a report in the Daily Mail the England skipper is deadly serious about the prospect of returning to his boyhood favourites.

Rooney is almost certain to leave Manchester United in the summer and will be presented with lucrative offers to move to China and the USA.

With the World Cup Finals just 12 months away and Peter Shilton’s international cap record within sight a move to Everton makes sense for Rooney’s playing ambitions.

This week Everton have encouraged talk of a move with Ronald Koeman saying that he believes there Rooney can play at the top level for another two or three years.

With Manchester United prepared to let Rooney go for free in the summer in order to save on his £300,000/week wages it seems as if all the jigsaw pieces are falling into place for a sensational return to Goodison for Manchester United and England’s all time leading goalscorer.

but the crucial details will be thrashed out in the summer with Manchester United looking to recoup the £30m fee they paid in 2004 for the player who currently earns £300,000/week at Old Trafford.
