Despite mixed messages from various parties over the last few months the Manchester Evening News believes that an £86m (€100m) deal with Atletico Madrid is close to completion.
Whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic stays or goes Jose Mourinho wants to sign the Frenchman to ensure that his side has a proven goalscoring edge.
Griezmann has publicly stated that he is happy with Atletico but that hasn’t dampened speculation that he will be on his way to Manchester.
The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form for Atletico this season and was one of the stars of Euro 16 when France finished as runners up to Portugal.
That form has put him in the transfer thoughts of the biggest clubs in the game but it seems certain that he is heading for Old Trafford.
Griezmann’s move is likely to be followed by a number of deals involving strikers with Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero expected to be on the move.
