Manchester City step up interest in Dahoud

|

Manchester City are closing in on a deal to sign Mahmoud Dahoud.

According to a report in The Sun the Borussia Monchengladbach playmaker has caught the attention of City scouts and Pep Guardiola.

Dahoud has been in outstanding form for Gladbach but after looking for a move last summer he seems certain to get his wish this time with his current side unable to offer Champions League football next season.

The 21-year-old has played against City in each of the last two Champions League campaigns and has played an even more important role since Granit Xhaka was sold to Arsenal.

While defenders will be Guadriola’s priority in the summer the almost certain departure of Yaya Toure will leave a big gap in the squad.

Dahoud is a different type of central midfielder but Guardiola has no doubt that the Syrian born playmaker can have a big impact on the club domestically and in Europe.
