Liverpool are planning an end of season bid for Theo Hernandez.
According to a report in Metro the Atletico Madrid defender has been brought to the attention of Jurgen Klopp.
Hernandez is on loan at Alaves this season and has made a big impression with scouts from Real Madrid linked with a move.
The 19-year-old Frenchman is due back at Atletico at the end of the season with an offer to switch to Anfield a certainty.
Hernandez is under contract until 2021 but Atletico will need to come up with a major wage rise to keep him happy with Liverpool and Read showing interest.
Klopp has struggled to fill the left-back position with various players fitting in without looking convincing.
With a season of La Liga experience under his belt the Liverpool boss will be confident that Hernandez can hit the ground running and make a big impact on the side.
