Koeman relaxed on contract saga

Ronald Koeman isn’t getting stressed out by the Romelu Lukaku transfer saga.

According to an interview in the Liverpool Echo the Goodison boss is concentrating on his team and incoming transfers while leaving the deal with the Belgian striker with his board.

Twice in the last three months Lukaku’s agent, Mino Raiola, has claimed that a new contract was 99% completed but as yet no new deal has been signed.

Lukaku is under contract until June 2019 but with a striker merry-go-round expected in the summer there is bound to be interest in the 23-year-old who seems to be constantly linked with a return trip to Chelsea.

Asked about a contract update Koeman said: “You want that he will sign a new contract as soon as possible but it’s not a question of one or two weeks, but I didn’t hear anything about the situation and maybe next week I get an update.”

With 17 goals from 24 Premier League appearances there is no doubting the importance of Lukaku to the Everton side and Koeman’s plans.

The Dutchman has found it difficult to attract quality players to Goodison despite having the funds in place to compete with the big spenders, if a deal can’t be found by the end of this season to keep Lukaku it seems likely that he will be on the move despite the 99% comments from his agent.
