Aston Villa are considering an end of season move for Marvin Johnson.
According to the Birmingham Mail the Oxford winger is being watched by Villa, West Brom and Birmingham City.
Johnson has had a nomadic career through a string of non-league clubs but since switching from Kidderminster to Motherwell two years ago his career has picked up with Oxford believed to have paid a fee of around £500,000 for the 26-year-old.
Since returning to the Football League he has delivered on the promise that he showed at Motherwell with another move upwards expected at the end of this season.
Steve Bruce has strong contacts in the lower leagues who have come back recommending that he takes a look at the Oxford man.
Bruce spent heavily during the January transfer window and is expected to make similar moves in the summer as he attempts to make Villa front runners for promotion.
It will take a fee in the region of £1m to get Oxford to the negotiating table but that fee won’t scare off Bruce or Villa.
