Arsenal are planning a summer move for Kasper Schmeichel.

According to a report in The Sun the Leicester keeper has been identified to take over from Peter Cech.

Schmeichel has been in outstanding form this season as one of the few Leicester players to have built on last season’s title success.

The 30-year-old has served a long apprenticeship in the shadow of his famous father but has shown his mettle this season, especially in the Champions League ties with Sevilla.

Like most Leicester players he signed a long term contract at the start of this season but a move to Arsenal is bound to appeal to the Danish international.

Cech has looked vulnerable this season after impressing last term forcing the Gunners to look elsewhere for a longer term solution.

Leicester are likely to be looking for a fee in the region of £30m but with the position critical Arsenal will be able to meet that figure.
