Manchester United are believed to have finally secured the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

According to a report on Calciomercato a pre-contract agreement has been signed to take the Swedish defender to Old Trafford in the summer.

Lindelof was the subject of protracted negotiations throughout January but United and Benfica were unable to agree on a transfer fee.

One of those conditions was the sell-on clause that Vasteras inserted when they sold the defender in 2012.

Benfica bought out that clause which made the negotiations with United more straightforward with a deal now in place for the 22-year-old.

The on-off saga during January led to speculation that Barcelona would come in with an offer but it finally seems that the defender is on his way to Old Trafford.

Lindelof broke into the Benfica first team last season and has won 11 full caps for Sweden and appeared for his country at Euro 2016.
