Patrice Evra has claimed that one person inside Old Trafford prevented him from making a dramatic return to Manchester United.
The 35-year-old ended up signing for Marseilles but according to a report in the Daily Mail he was on the verge of signing on again at Old Trafford.
Quoting an interview for Sky Italia Evra claims that he was approached by Jose Mourinho about returning to the club and was close to signing up on a new contract.
It’s not explained how Evra found out about the person that vetoed the move but the defender claims that after one day of discussions he pulled out of the move.
The Frenchman was strongly linked with West Ham and Crystal Palace but once an offer came in from Marseille he decided to return to Ligue 1.
Evra spent eight years at Manchester United, making over 300 appearances in all competitions, before joining Juventus in 2014.
