Everton and Southampton chase Kalinic of Gent

|

Everton and Southampton will battle it out for the summer signing of Lovre Kalinic with Fraser Forster at the centre of a transfer triangle.

According to a report in The Sun the Gent keeper was watched by both clubs as he helped knock Spurs out of the Europa League at Wembley.

Everton are favourites to sign Kalinic with Ronald Koeman looking to bring in a top class keeper to anchor his defence.

Forster is also a target for Everton with Saints covering all bases by checking out the Gent keeper who moved to Belgium from Hadjuk Split in January.

Kalinic was a target for Aston Villas last season but failed to gain a work permit however new guidelines and a £10m price tag should overcome that obstacle.

At 26-years-of-age the Croatian is about to reach his peak years after- after seven years with Hadjuk it seems certain that he’ll be playing in the Premier League next season.
