Everton are set to make an £8.5m bid for Ishak Belfodil of Standard Liege.

According to a report in The Daily Mail the striker could quit Standard’s winter training camp in Spain for talks over a move to Goodison.

Ronald Koeman has been impressed by Belfodil’s eye for goal and is keen to add an other goal threat to lessen their dependency on Romelu Lukaku.

The 24-year-old moved to Belgium last summer after spells at five Italian clubs including Parma and Inter Milan.

With six goals from 15 league matches Belfodil isn’t a prolific marksman but Koeman rates his work rate and is confident that he can add to Everton’s attacking options which has relied heavily on Lukaku who recently signed a new long term deal to stay with Everton..

The £22m deal to sign Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United has almost been completed with Koeman keen to bring in four or five players during the January window.
