Jesse Lingard has rejected an offer from Manchester United to double his wages to £60,000 per week.

According to a report in The Mirror the 23-year-old has turned down a new five year deal believing that his pay should be more in line with others in Jose Mourinho’s squad.

Lingard is in no rush to quit Old Trafford but won’t undersell himself when the majority of his team-mates are picking up £100,000/week and upwards.

After spells on loan in the Championship Lingard has blossomed over the past 12 months at United featuring regularly under Lois van Gaal and also Mourinho.

Lingard, who currently earns £30,000/week, finds himself in a similar position is Harry Kane at Spurs who last week signed a new long term contract at Spurs.

Traditionally clubs have been reluctant to give big money deals to players that come through the ranks but with so much knowledge of wages around they are having to act fast to keep players in line with the top earners.
