Aston Villa are looking to bring in Carl Jenkinson on loan from Arsenal during the January transfer window.
According to a report in the Birmingham Mail the defender has been identified by Steve Bruce to add strength to Villa’s promotion push.
Bruce has halted the horror run of results that led to the sacking of Roberto di Matteo but still has work to do to get Villa involved with the promotion race.
Newcastle and Brighton have opened up a five point gap at the top of the table but with more than half of the season still to go Villa still have hopes of securing a return to the top flight at the first time of asking.
Bringing in Jenkinson would be a big boost with the 24-year-old now fully recovered from the knee injury he suffered while on loan at West Ham.
Jenkinson has only played seven minutes of Premier League football this season and is keen to get out on loan to get his career back on track.
