John Obi Mikel’s agent has confirmed that he is in talks with Chelsea about his clients future.

With six months left on his Stamford Bridge deal and no first team appearances under Antonio Conte it seems obvious that the midfielder will be on the move- either in January or at the end of the season.

Speaking to Goal in response to rumours linking Mikel with a move to Manchester United John Shittu, Mikel’s agent admitted that there are offers on the table for his client.

Famously, or infamously, in 2006 Mikel was involved in a three way transfer tug of war that resulted in Manchester United getting a £4m payment for a player who never kicked a ball in a red shirt.

Mikel was a big factor in Mourinho’s success at Stamford Bridge with the odds shortening on the two men working together in the new year.

Discussing interest in his client Shittu admitted: “There are a few clubs in Europe and Asia, they are numerous and are interested in him because he is a quality player, aged only 29, and we just have to speak, so we will see. A lot of interest is there.

“There is no decision made yet and it is still 50/50 whether he will sign or leave. A lot can happen in the next months, never say never in football.”

Shittu added: “Obi Mikel and Antonio (Conte) have been speaking. The manager, club and player have been talking. So I am not in a position to tell about what they have been speaking about, in the next few weeks things should be clearer.

“We have been having meeting with a few parties who are interested in him, once we are able to agree the way forward with Chelsea, then we will take it from there.”

Mikel featured in 25 Premier League matches last season, starting 19 under Guus Hiddink and Mourinho but hasn’t even made the bench for a top team match this season.
