Manchester United’s Rodriguez move is delayed

Manchester United will have to wait until the summer to make a move for James Rodriguez.

According to a report in the Manchester Evening News Real Madrid aren’t prepared to let the striker go in January and will hold on to the 25-year-old until they have brought in a high quality replacement.

Speculation that Rodriguez was heading to the Premier League soared when the striker was spotted outside the British Embassy in Bogota before Christmas.

Real are reportedly looking for £60m for the striker that they signed from Monaco for £71m after a highly impressive World Cup in Brazil.

Rodriguez has failed to recapture his World Cup form and has only scored two goals this season from 16 appearances.

The £60m asking price appears to have killed off Chelsea’s interest but Jose Mourinho was in charge of Real when the Columbian was signed and would love to be reunited at Old Trafford.
