Ahead of the January transfer window opening Ronald Koeman has spoken out about the problems throughout Everton.

In an interview carried by the Liverpool Echo the Everton boss discusses the need to change almost every aspect of the way that his side plays.

After two mid-table finishes Roberto Martinez was dismissed at the end of last season with Koeman brought in from Southampton to push the club towards the Champions League places.

Fresh ownership and investment raised expectations but speaking ahead of the visit from Arsenal the Dutchman articulated his frustrations over the players that he inherited.

I see also what maybe the last manager saw in the team,” the Goodison boss said. “That there is a dis-balance in the team. Where we have spoken about, between physically, mentally and quality on the ball. That is what we need to change.

Of course I did not expect 10 games with one win but also I did not expect the whole season to be how we started the season.”

Everton picked up 13 points from their first five matches but have only recorded one win since that promising start.

Koeman is expected to be one of the busiest managers around during January with reinforcements required in every area of the team.

It is believed that the Everton boss is interested in a number of players who appear surplus to requirements at Manchester United with Memphis Depay and Morgan Sneiderlin among the top Goodison targets.
