Arsenal weighing up move for Sunderland keeper Pickford

|

Arsenal are preparing to make an enquiry to Sunderland about signing Jordan Pickford.

According to a report in The Standard part of the deal would be the agreement to loan the keeper back to Sunderland for the remainder of the season.

David Moyes has been told that he won’t have any worthwhile money to spend during the January transfer window and could be tempted by a deal that provides him with funds while allowing Pickford to remain at the Stadium of Light.

Pickford is rated as one of the top young keepers in the country and was called up into the England squad earlier this season.

Sunderland are resigned to losing the keeper in the near future with the focus on securing the best possible deal.

Arsenal’s interest casts a question mark over the future of Petr Cech who joined the club from Chelsea in a £10m deal in June 2015.

Even at the age of 34 Cech was viewed as having a long future ahead of him at Arsenal but talks about Pickford would suggest that the club are concerned about Cech’s form.
