Having seen a bid of over £40 million rejected for Alexandre Lacazette in the summer, West Ham United have been buoyed by the fact the player wants to exit Lyon in 2017, report talkSPORT.

According to the report, Lacazette will turn down the contract extension being proposed by the French giants at the moment while plotting his exit at the end of the current 2016/17 campaign.

Also heavily linked with Arsenal in the summer, Lacazette has started the season in typically prolific form, scoring nine goals in seven Ligue 1 appearances already this term.

While it remains to be seen just how much Lyon may eventually sell Lacazette for, it would appear that the £63 million release clause that would’ve been inserted into an improved contract is now out of the question.

After getting nowhere in their pursuit of Lacazette in the summer, West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic eventually signed both Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza although the duo still await their first Premier League goals.
