West Ham United face four-way tussle for teenage star

|

Still yet to represent Ajax’s first team, West Ham United are facing a four-way tussle to land 18-year-old Dutch defender Danilho Doekhi, report Sport Witness.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Watford are the latest club to show an interest in the teenage star with Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion having already been credited with an interest.

Impressing for Ajax’s reserve side so far this season, it would appear Slaven Bilic’s Hammers have some work to do in this transfer pursuit with Hornets scouts having recently visited the Netherlands to watch Doekhi this term.

While Ajax have set the benchmark for actively promoting youth team players ahead of schedule down the years, Doekhi isn’t actually one of the Amsterdam giants’ own.

Only signed from fellow Dutch club Excelsior in the summer, Doekhi will now have to weigh up the interest from English clubs versus the reality of making it into Peter Bosz’s first team in the near future.
