Kevin Keegan only played for Newcastle for 2 years – but what an incredible 2 years they were.

The Englishman was part of the side that saw Newcastle rise into the top tier in English football, whilst he also bagged an impressive 48 goals from 78 matches along the way.

His signing as a player was also integral for the long-term future of Newcastle, and there is an argument to suggest that his signing was more important than any other.

He returned as manager in 1992 and led Newcastle into a very successful period – and it is likely that none of that would have happened if he wasn’t signed as a player.
