Suitors pull out of race to land West Ham United star

|

Struggling for regular first team football since impressing against Arsenal in 2015, Bundesliga outfit Red Bull Leipzig are no longer interested in signing West Ham United’s Reece Oxford, report ESPN FC.

The 17-year-old was linked heavily with both Manchester City and Manchester United in the summer but for the reassurance of Hammers fans, at least one suitor has now given up on signing him.

Speaking about Red Bull Leipzig’s transfer movements, sporting director Ralf Rangnick told Bild: “We will neither sign him [Reece Oxford] in the winter nor in the summer.

“He played a role [in RB’s thoughts] once, but that’s a thing of the past.”

Going up against Mesut Ozil fantastically well in August 2015, Oxford has still only made just seven Premier League appearances for the Hammers.

Still just 17-years-old, Oxford is still extremely young but has alerted a number of clubs after rejecting a new contract with West Ham United at the end of last season.

While the Hammers will look to tie Oxford’s future up long-term, it would appear any other interested parties will have to better Red Bull Leipzig’s original failed bid of £10 million with Oxford reportedly rated at £15 million.
